Looking for that studentresources.ca web site? Sorry folks, we decided to close it down. I know, it sucks, but if you’d like to know, we’ll tell you why we took this course of action.
Now, we’re sincerely not interested in pointing fingers or laying blame, but there were a few external factors that prompted the closure.
First of all, our [previous] web hosts are pretty useless. “Crap but cheap” is the expression that comes to mind. I don’t know what the experience was like for you, the end user, but when it came to administration it was slow and tedious.
Then there’s Facebook. …and we love Facebook. Who wouldn’t? They have everything. …and that’s cool with us. Honest. BUT is does beg the question “Do we really need another forum when we have Facebook?” and having asked ourselves that, we say “Nay”! We can’t expect our key demographic of interweb-savvy users to choose us over the mighty FB. We don’t expect it and if we ever needed any convincing, we see people have voted with their feet on the issue. We approve.
Now let’s just say that this has been a learning curve for us. Our first venture that did not live up to the dream. We’re not bitter about it and we hope that anyone who feels lost without this resource can shrug off any disappointment and find alternative provision.
